WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE WANT
Take a Break from Brexit is a campaign seeking to democratise the Brexit process. We campaigned for a significant extension of Article 50 to grant us more time to discuss what to make of Brexit, rather than rush a decision that will affect us for decades to come. We now support an extension of the Brexit transition in order to deal with the pandemic.
We have developed a plan to use Citizens' Assemblies on Brexit to let the citizens decide what should happen.
The campaign was launched by DiEM25 and by a group of British and European citizens and it's part of the Citizens Take Over Europe coalition.
We respect the choice of all those who could vote in the Brexit referendum and we recognise the democratic outcome of the vote. All of us sympathise with the valid reasons of many of those who voted Remain, and understand and share the motives of many of those who voted Leave. Fundamentally, we believe in democracy.
But we also believe that the current Brexit process fails everyone and that we need more time and a better democratic process to understand what to make of Brexit.
